The
Importance of Play

This morning I woke up and had a choice...
I could have been caught up in the busy-ness of the new day,
or, I could take some time and play with my two retrievers and
go for a nice walk.
: - )
Guess which one I chose?
Yep, I chose to go for the walk, and the pups LOVED it. I Loved it...
: - )
Each morning we wake up, we
have a choice. We can jump into our "Adult Suits" and
reach "stress point" before the clock has even
hits 10:00 a.m.... Or, we can make a simple choice...
- we can choose to play!
"Come on Paul, I'm
a busy person, I have responsibilities!"
Yes, my friend, you also have a need to unwind - to step back
from the "perpetual adult syndrome" we're caught up
in so often. It';s also your responsibility to live your life
qwith more joy and passion>
I share this concept with people frequently:
"We've had
far too much training being adults and
not
nearly enough being
children. Our creativity
gets cut off at about age 7, and our struggles are
all connected with this central fact"
I mean child
like Spirit ...
Plato once said:
"You
can discover more about a person in an hour of play
than in a year of conversation"
Hmmm... Consider that for a moment.... "You can discover more about a person in

Dr. Katz encourages people to be colorful and "lighten up"
and start playing more. She teaches "Playology" to
corporate managers, doctors, psychologists, nurses, and teachers
who want to learn what Playology is and how it can help people
re-discover their Spirit.
So, Here's you assignment today...
(a simple and fun way to feel better! : - )
"Write
Yourself a Play Prescription Today"
Take 10 minutes now, and write
down 5 ways you
can have
some fun today.
Some great Ideas:
1) Take your shoes off - yes even at
your corporate desk!
Wiggle your toes in the air and say "I'm FREE!"
Better yet, go massage someone else's toes and
see how they feel :
- )
2) Toss a piece of paper over your cubicle at one
of your cubicle mates and say Whoops! - wrong desk!
I used to do that all the time in my corporate days.
It always got the office laughing : - )
3) Go out for a walk and a stretch - and smile at someone
new today - someone you don't already know.
4) Play some upbeat music and dance - use your pens
and other objects as "drumsticks"
5) Lay on the floor and stretch and feel
the vitality
in your body

So... take a moment and write at least 5 things you
can do today to have some fun (yes, especially
if you're at work!!!!!
